About the Blog
The blog was inspired during quarantine of the Covid-19 pandemic. I found myself uprooted in my career and my life, and my aunt, who always had stories about her life, suggested I start a journal again. As time passed, I reignited my passion for writing, and got cracking again on my novel Sunshine & Syphilis: A post-apocalyptic love story. In times like these dark comedy gets me through it all. Thoughts of a Writing Freak is more or less a portfolio of my latest writing pieces. If you like weirdness, dark humor, and a peek into the life of a Writing Freak, then this blog is for you!
About the Author
My name is Nick Martinez, aka Writing Freak. I am a writer who currently resides outside of the Kansas City area. I started studying the fine arts in undergrad and had focused on animation and woodworking. Prior to finishing school, I had the desire to give back, and decided to get a second degree in psychology. After graduating I found myself as a case manager/ social worker, working with children who could benefit from mental health treatment. After a year and a half I decided to move on and try and set out on a new path. Coincidentally, here comes Coronavirus, making the job market less appealing in its opportunities. So here I am, hoping my writing can help me find my way, money or no money.
